In his keynote, Builderman recapped some outstanding community milestones, highlighted our commitment to the success of our developers, and shared an update on his predictions for 2023.

The developer community accomplished a lot since the last RDC. Justin Sousa (a.k.a. JParty), our Head of Developer Community, did a deeper dive into those successes and what we’re doing to expand our creator ecosystem worldwide. The dev community is on track to earn over $100 million by the end of 2019, so expect to see bigger games, bigger worlds, and even bigger, more immersive experiences.
To help developers make those bigger, more immersive experiences, Adam Miller (a.k.a. rbadam), our Vice President of Engineering, Technology, took attendees on a tour through some of the innovative new product features we’re working on to make games look and perform even better. On-stage demos included a new level of detail and lighting system for models, custom materials, procedurally generated terrain vegetation, a new Lua type system, Team Create with source control, 3D layered clothing for avatars, and diversifying the Catalog offerings by opening it up further to community creations.
